Lincoln County’s Emergency Management Agency is advising the public to keep an eye out for what county EMA Director Tim Pellerin said, “could be major Nor’easter,” that could pass through Lincoln County sometime Friday.
According to reports, two storm systems may come together south of New England and travel across the state during the early part of the weekend. Pellerin acknowledged the warning may come to nothing, but urges county residents should be prepared.
In particular, at this time of year, fallen leaves could block water flows potentially exacerbating flooding damage, Pellerin said.
“There are a lot of leaves on the ground,” Pellerin said. “People should make sure their culverts are clear; their drains are clear.”
In all respects, residents should be prepared for what could be a significant weather event, Pellerin said.
He advised residents to stock up on essentials including food, water, batteries, pet supplies (if necessary), blankets, medicine and other essentials.
Residents should also keep an eye on weather reports. Pellerin said his office will issue further announcements as necessary.
According to the National Weather Service, rain is expected to begin in Lincoln County area Thursday evening and continue throughout the day Friday. Rain may be heavy at times with potential accumulation of more than three inches possible.
Showers are likely to continue Friday night and into Saturday.
