The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Watch late Jan. 10 in regards to a weather system expected to blow through Lincoln County beginning late tonight and continuing through Wednesday.
The storm is forecast to bring high winds and over 6 inches of snowfall accumulation to Lincoln County, according to the NWS. Areas north of the Maine midcoast are forecast to receive less snowfall, and areas south are forecast for heavier snowfall totals.
The storm is presently in the southeastern states where it is wreaking havoc with alternating layers of snow and ice. It is expected to combine with another low pressure area in the region and then start marching up the coast, strengthening as it goes.
The heaviest snowfall and highest winds are presently forecast to impact Lincoln County during the daylight hours of Wednesday, according to forecasts.
