Depending on where you are in Lincoln County, today’s winter weather brought snow, sleet, freezing rain or rain. Warm, sunny weather – however – was not an option.
If you haven’t had enough yet, don’t worry! The winter weather buffet is forecast to remain open until 1 a.m. when a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) is set to expire.
There were numerous closings and cancellations affecting Lincoln County (see related stories) and the usual minor traffic accidents, but no major incidents or power outages had been reported at the time of this posting.
Snowfall accumulation for the storm is forecast to be higher than the original estimate of 4 to 6 inches. The new forecast includes another 2 to 4 inches still to fall, with the final total now at 6 to 10 inches of snowfall. Inland areas should see the most accumulation, according to forecasters.
Snowfall intensity should dissipate as the evening progresses, with many areas of Lincoln County forecast to be in the clear even before the Winter Storm Warning is lifted at 1 a.m.
The Lincoln County News website will continue to follow the progress of this event, and post any additional information here as soon as it becomes available.
