A Jan. 2 burglary and assault on Hillside Lane in Whitefield remains under active investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Rand Maker said.
Multiple assailants broke into the home, assaulted the resident, and tried to find prescription drugs, according to Maker. The victim’s injuries did not require medical attention, Maker said.
“We have yet to identify all the players involved,” Maker said. “We suspect that this wasn’t a random act. There had to be some knowledge of the person and the home.”
According to Maker, there has been no other suspicious activity reported in the area. The sheriff’s office believes the incident was isolated. Maker was unable to release any additional information.
