The Little Brown Church in Round Pond village will host a benefit concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28, featuring local Celtic, folk, and country performers.
Currently on the bill are Castlebay, a duo which sings Celtic and maritime songs accompanied by guitar Celtic harp, fiddle, and woodwinds. Nancy Jones, a retired schoolteacher, sings and plays guitar, pennywhistle, and fiddle in the Midcoast band The Rusty Hinges. Kathi Nordone, a songwriter and singer, plays honest, country-flavored original songs and has released five recordings.
The proceeds of the concert will help support Peggy Collins and her family in her battle against a cancerous brain tumor. She is self-employed as a cleaning woman and is well known for her caregiving of local elders and children. In addition to the music, a variety of baked goods and refreshments will be on sale.
