Participants will learn what dementia is and how it effects the individual, develop skills on how to interact and communicate with a person with dementia and discover what resources and services are available for support. Caregivers Are Special People. A family caregiver is anyone who provides unpaid help to a disabled or elderly relative or friend. Family caregivers can also include grandparents and relatives over 60 who care for children under 18 years of age. Caregiving can be a lonely, frustrating road. Stress, frustration, guilt – These can be some of the normal feelings when caring for someone else’s health and personal needs. It can be a physical and emotional challenge, and time consuming.
