Harold Lopez-Nussa Trio

From his award winning performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland to the legendary Montreal Jazz Festival, Harold Lopez-Nussa and his band have been recognized as international leaders in Latin jazz. With the lifting of the Cuban Embargo, this talented Havana native is now allowed to travel to the United States. In November the trio dazzled the Opera House audience and now returns to share their music with our summer audience. During his young career he has performed as soloist at Cuba’s most important theatres and with the National Symphony Orchestra and Matanzas Symphony Orchestra. Lopez-Nussa has played together with outstanding figures of Cuban traditional music and popular music, as well as with well-known jazz musicians such as Chucho Valdés, David Sánchez, Horacio “El Negro” Hernández, Christian Scott, Stefon Harris, Bobby Carcassés, Elmer Ferrer, and Alexander Brown. He was a band member for Omara Portuondo´s international tours from 2008-2011, and also a member of Maraca & The Monterey Latin Jazz All-Stars. Harold Lopez-Nussa has performed at major international venues including the Olympia Theater and the anthological New Moring in Paris, the Barbican Center in London and the Satin Doll at Bordeux, San Francisco Jazz Festival, Wien Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Marciac Jazz Festival, Oslo World Music Festival, Barcelona Jazz International Festival, Nord Sea Jazz Festival, Martinique Jazz Festival, Verona Jazz Festival, 33rd Conference of International Association for Jazz Educators (IAJE), Enghien Les Bains 1st Piano Festival, OLoron Jazz Festival, Jazz a Viennes, Puebla International Festival, and the Cotton Club in Tokyo among others.
