What was Wiscasset like 200 years ago today? The Lady in the Red Cloak will walk you through the Village and the Ancient Burial Ground, sharing history, folklore and ghost stories. The Embargo and the War of 1812 had done its damage, but Wiscasset did not wither away. There were still many families and businesses in town. What did people do for past times? What were those sustaining businesses? Why was Wiscasset passed over for the state capital? On this moderate walk you’ll step back in time and see Wiscasset in a different way than you do while driving through, or running your errands. This is not the same tour as the evening lantern lit Red Cloak Haunted History Tour.
