During Memorial Day Weekend you will learn how the annual migration of alewives influences other creatures along the Damariscotta River.

May is a very busy month on the River and the crew plans on sharing all the activities. Seals give birth to their pups just as the springtime migration of alewives introduces an abundance of food to the tidal river. The River Tripper will have special Alewife Run Tours Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 2pm. The trip is partially narrated about how the annual migration of alewives effects the habitat on the Damariscotta River and the amazing interdependency of alewives and its wildlife.
During the Alewife Festival on Memorial Day Weekend the profit of ticket sales will be donated to the Damariscotta Mills Fish Ladder Restoration Project.

He has entertained hundreds of prominent corporate clients and opening for over 60 international stars such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, The Beach Boys, Chicago, The Doobie Brothers, Tony Bennett and Tom Jones. Ornithologist Steve Kress, affectionately known as “The Puffin Man” will lead a bird walk through the fields of Inn Along the Way at Chapman Farm. This guided interpretive walk will be a great opportunity to observe and learn about resident and migrating birds in the region from a local expert. The 31 acre farm farm fields are surrounded by many acres of forest, providing habitat for a wide diversity of bird species. The walk is open to all and free of charge.
