BBC Shakespeare Series presents: Taming of the Shrew (2005; 1 hours; 30 minutes)In this modern retelling of Shakespeare’s comedy, Katherine Minola (Shirley Henderson) is a temperamental-yet-successful politician, and everyone – from her party chairman to her sister – wants her to get married. Is passionate eccentric Petruchio (Rufus Sewell) the answer to her prayers? Playing at 2 p.m., Friday April 22. Free.

Jesse Owens’ quest to become the greatest track-and-field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler’s vision of Aryan supremacy. Playing at 7 p.m., Friday, April 22; 3 and 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24; and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 27.

Special eventY-Arts presents: “I Love Maine! The Musical.” Youth from the Central Lincoln County and Boothbay Region YMCAs will collaborate with the Lincoln Theater for four performances the last weekend of April of this new and original musical. When a student has to write a report about Maine, his classmates take him on an adventure across the state to learn about the history and beauty of Maine. Featuring dancing lobsters, singing potatoes, and a hero with a great mustache, this musical will be a hit for the whole family! Opens Friday, April 29. Tickets are $5 and on sale now.
