In celebration of Earth Day and Earth Month, the town of Alna invites residents to participate in its annual roadside cleanup event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 4. The event will begin and end at the Alna town office, located at 1574 Alna Road. Please note that there is no rain date scheduled.
Community members of all ages are encouraged to take part in this town-wide effort to keep Alna clean and beautiful. Volunteers can meet up at the town office to collect supplies including a trash grabber/ picker tool, trash bags, and gloves. They are then encouraged to contribute by walking a mile or two along local roads while collecting roadside litter and returnable containers.
Participants are asked to separate redeemables into a different bag. Any hazardous materials or bulky waste encountered should be reported to Alna Third Selectperson Coreysha Lothrop at 3rdselectmanalna@gmail.com.
After completing their cleanup efforts, participants should return to the town office for a trash/ supply drop-off. Redeemable donations will go to the Alna Food Pantry.
Early attendees will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of flower mix donated by Ames Supplies.
Thanks to the generous support of Dave Kelly of Dave Kelly Disposal, all collected trash will be transported to the Wiscasset Transfer Station.
Residents are encouraged to come out, connect with neighbors, and take part in this meaningful community initiative. Together, Alna can continue to preserve its natural beauty for generations to come.
