The Lincoln Academy girls tennis team defeated Caribou 3-2 on Saturday, June 9 to win their first state Class B tennis championship. Emily Harris defeated Ashley Matlock 6-4, 6-1 at second singles. Fiona Liang topped Hailey Holmquist 6-0, 6-1 at third singles.
Both Lady Eagle doubles teams lost, putting the pressure on Caitlin Cass at first singles. Cass won the battle over Gabrielle Marguis 6-2, 6-3 to lift Lincoln Academy to a state title.
Sandra Thelander and Anastasiya Oliver lost 4-6, 1-6 to Madison Stratton and Ciara Richards at first doubles. Harmony Ingham and May Halm fell 2 -6, 6-6 (7-4 tiebreaker), 0-6 at second doubles.
