Agnes J. Morse, 96, of Union, died Aug. 18 at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
She was born in Leicester, Vt. on July 30, 1912, a daughter of Austin W. and Jennie (Smith) Johnson.
She attended schools in Leicester, Vt. and The Academy at Eastern Nazarene College in Boston. She married Samuel H. Morse and they resided in South Newfane, Vt. She was employed at Brandon Training School in Brandon, Vt. for many years until retiring in 1982. She moved to Wiscasset to live with her son, then to the Lincoln Home in 1987. In 2002 she moved to Union and this past July to her son s home in Farmington.
She was actively involved with the Church of the Nazarene all her life and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Leicester, Vt. and later at the Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed reading and letter writing.
She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel H. Morse and two brothers, Austin W. Johnson and Archie Dutton.
She is survived by one son, Samuel A. Morse and wife Sharon of Farmington; sister, Elizabeth Wetmore and husband Hayden of Leicester, Vt.; six grandchildren, Patricia Ayer and husband Allen of Brandon, Vt., Sharon Penrose and husband Ray of Goshen, Ind., Samuel Morse and wife Janis of Navarre, Fla., Daniel Morse and wife Amy of Randolph, Vt., Paul Morse and wife Betsy of Wiscasset and Ruth Leighton and husband Samuel of Wiscasset; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service 2 p.m., Thurs., Aug. 21 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
