Anne L. Nadeau, 84, passed away Jan. 20 at The Anderson Inn at Quarry Hill in Camden, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 26, 1922 in Union, the daughter of Frank R. and Lottie Belle Butler Plummer.
Anne attended a one-room school at the south end of Upper Cross Road in Nobleboro. She continued her education at the Mapleton High School in Aroostook County.
She later worked as a waitress, cook, and nurse in the county. She was employed as a CNA in Searsport and Belfast and also worked as a private duty nurse.
Anne spent the last 28 years in Nobleboro taking care of her companion, Maurice W. Cunningham, Sr. Anne and Maurice enjoyed going to various state fairs, where Maurice competed in the pony pulling contests. In later years, she could be found picking strawberries, which she sold to her customers who were as eager to see her as she was to see them.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Lynda L. McKenzie; and stepfather, Hugh Grinnell.
Survivors include her companion of 26 years, Maurice W. Cunningham Sr. of Nobleboro; brother, Wesley Plummer of Bath; nieces, Gelnda Lamare of Bath, Violet Rauch of Waterford, Cal.; nephew, Wesley Daniel Plummer of Woolwich; long time-friend, Annette Tripp of Belfast; special friends, Richard and Wendy Cunningham of Somerville, and Carol and John Dumont of Dresden.
Visitation 10-11 a.m., Wed., Jan. 24, followed by a Celebration of her life at 11 a.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Burial will be held in the spring.
