Annette Bryant, 75, of Bristol, passed away on April 5 at Cove’s Edge Skilled Unit in Damariscotta, where she had been a patient for two weeks.
She was born in Portland on April 26, 1931, the daughter of Avilda (Sproul) Lewis. She grew up in Old Orchard, graduating from Old Orchard High School, class of 1949. As a child, Annette spent many summers with her grandparents in Pemaquid Falls.
On July 1, 1950, Annette married Howard Bryant. In November of 2004, the couple lost their home to a fire, the home in which Howard was born and that they shared for 54 years. The community built a new home on the same site, where they lived for nearly a year, until the death of her husband.
Annette and Howard operated Busy B’s Restaurant from 1968-1983. She was later employed at Renys as well as North Country Windbell.
Annette enjoyed traveling, boating, and camping with Howard. She was an avid golfer in the 70’s and 80’s and a lifelong Red Sox fan.
She was predeceased by Howard, her beloved husband of 55 years, in October 2005; son, Scott in 1964; and sister, Elaine in 2002.
She is survived by her four children, Pamela S.B. Libby and husband Randolph of South Portland, Timothy Bryant and wife Kathy of South Portland, Deborah Chapman and husband Richard of Bristol, and Jalaine Lakeman and husband Laurence of Round Pond; brother, Chester Lewis of Punta Gorda, Fla.; sisters, Janice Staples of Alfred, and Phyllis Sargent of Old Orchard; uncle, Ervine Sproul of Edgecomb; 14 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and several extra special nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to be with the family 5-8 p.m., Tues., April 10 at Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta.
Service to honor her memory 1 p.m., Wed., April 11 at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Ernest Farrar officiating.
She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Bristol Mills Cemetery.
