Arlene Aho McFarland, 79, of Oakland, passed away unexpectedly May 28 of natural causes at her home.
She was born June 10, 1935 in Warren, a daughter of Walter and Lilja Aho. Arlene attended local schools and graduated from Waldoboro High in 1953. After graduation she began her career at GTE Sylvania in Waldoboro, retiring in 1993.
In July of 1993, Arlene married Willis E. McFarland of Oakland. Together they spent their retirement hunting, fishing and camping all regions of Maine, including favorite locations West Carry, Moosehead Lake, and Lake Ontario.
Arlene was predeceased by her husband of 22 years, Willie, on April 14; sisters, Dorothy Moody, Edith Walke, Laila Dehetre; and brothers, Walter Aho and Alfred Aho.
Surviving are her daughters, Lisa Jeran, son-in-law Brian, and their children Katherine and Jake of Islip Terrace, N.Y., and Melody Faux, son-in-law George and their children Shelby and Malcolm of Newcastle; stepson, James McFarland and wife Shaney and daughter Crystal of Clinton; sisters, Nancy Curtis of Owls Head, Mary Brennan of Gray, and Linda Bulger and brother-in-law Tim of Watertown, Conn.; brother, Donald Aho and sister-in-law Shelia of Elberta, Ala.; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Aug. 15 at the lakeside cottage of Melody and George, 27 Cottage Rd., Nobleboro.
