Arthur M. Creamer, 91, of Waldoboro, passed away peacefully at the Togus VA Medical Center on Dec. 13. He was born on Oct. 19, 1921 in Waldoboro, the son of the late Millard and Lillian Roscoe Creamer.
Arthur served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a proud member of the VFW Post 4525 located in Waldoboro.
Arthur had many interests in his life and a big interest was that of fishing. He enjoyed fishing, both fresh and salt water. He always spent a lot of time smelting; some say he had a natural knack for it because people would often be left wondering how he was able to catch so many smelts.
He spent many years as the fish warden and would help the alewives come up the river and over the rocks. He also spent some time as the harbormaster in town as well as occupying the role of town constable.
He was also a lobster fisherman for many years and was able to fish with his father and later on with his sons. He was very visible at town meetings and made sure that if he had an opinion, it was heard. Some even said that he was the life of the meetings.
He was a member of the St. Paul Community Center on Dutch Neck. He also raised laying hens for years. He enjoyed bowling at Depatsy Lanes, hunting and playing cards. Most of all he loved the family gatherings and clamming. He and his wife also were able to work alongside each other for about 10 years as the two picked crab meat together.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Beryle Creamer; daughter, Noreen Bridges; son-in-law, Peter Bridges; brother, Carl Creamer; sister, Madelyn Potamitis; and brother-in-law, Alfred Benner.
He is survived by his sons, Harlan Creamer and wife Michelle of Waldoboro, Millard Creamer and fiancée Madine Callam of Waldoboro, and Arthur “Bay” Creamer and girlfriend Debbie Herbert; daughter, Wynona Cragg and husband David of Spokane, Wash.; sister, Joyce Benner of Windsor; grandchildren, Linda Bridges and friend Joe Henry of South Bristol, Harlan “Spikee” Creamer and wife Amy of Bath, Toni Feltis and Jared Lagassie of Easton, Adam Mathew of Washington state, Dana Creamer of Brunswick; great-granddaughter, Mia Feltis of Easton; and many other children he thought of as his grandkids, Dale Griffin, Sara Callam, Carrie LaBranche, and Brian and Tom Weinkley.
