Atwood William Moody, of Mesquite, Tex., went home to be with the Lord Oct. 16. He was born Jan. 26, 1935 in Jefferson, the son of Ashby A. Moody and Madeline Flagg Moody. Atwood was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Haskell Moody.
Atwood was a veteran of the Marine Corps, and a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Mesquite, Tex. and served as a deacon there for many years. He retired from Minyards Food Stores and also worked previously for Kroger Foods and Safeway.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Mizell Moody of Mesquite, Tex.; son, Jeff Moody and wife Michelle of Farmington, N.M.; daughters, Debbie O’Neal and husband Doni of Nevada, Tex., Susan Daniel and husband Danny of Red Oak, Tex., and Penny Smith and husband Mike of Mesquite, Tex.; brothers, Herbert Moody and wife Teresa of Jefferson, and James Moody and wife Vickie of Jefferson; grandchildren, Kyle Daniel of Ft. Hood, Tex., Gregg Daniel of Red Oak, Tex., Chad Daniel of Red Oak, Tex., Blaine Smith of Mesquite, Tex., Josiah Moody of Farmington, N.M., Channon Daniel of Red Oak, Tex., Sarah Moody of Farmington, N.M., Beau Smith of Mesquite, Tex., Jonathan Moody of Farmington, N.M., Samuel Moody of Farmington, N.M., Lauren O’Neal of Nevada, Tex., and Seth O’Neal of Nevada, Tex.; as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation 6-8 p.m., Mon., Oct. 19 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Tex. Funeral service 11 a.m., Tues., Oct. 20 at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, 3300 La Prada, Mesquite, Tex. Interment will be at Restland Cemetery following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund or Benevolence Fund at Calvary Hill Baptist Church, Mesquite, Tex.
