
Barbara “Lee” “Honey” Ripley, 93, formerly of Wellesley, Mass., died Aug. 31 at St. Andrews Village in Boothbay Harbor. Lee was born Dec. 13, 1922 in Cambridge, Mass. to Harold and Gladys (Semons) Leland. She graduated from Belmont High School in the class of 1941. She attended Cushing Academy in 1942 and graduated from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston in 1943.
She worked as a secretary at Taylor, Granson, Perin of Boston, American Red Cross in Washington, D.C., Harvard College, and Wellesley Middle School in the Media Department. She was a member of the Wellesley Congregational Church.
Lee enjoyed needlework, and spending time with her grandchildren. Lee and her family have been part of the Ocean Point Community in East Boothbay for over 40 years.
Lee was the wedding coordinator for the Wilson Memorial Chapel at Ocean Point for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond H. Ripley Jr. who died Aug. 8, 2013.
Lee is survived by sons, Leland G. Ripley of Washington, David L. Ripley and wife Pamela of Porter, Tex., and Peter B. Ripley and wife Mary of East Boothbay; grandchildren, Christian D. Ripley of Seattle, Wash., Scott B. Ripley of St. Petersburg, Fla., Nicholas M. Ripley of East Boothbay, Amanda R. Ripley of Norristown, Penn., and Victoria D. Ripley of Windham.
A private family burial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay. A memorial service to celebrate Lee’s life will be announced in the spring of 2017.
