Beryl S. Sidelinger, 79, of Newcastle, passed away peacefully on the morning of Dec. 28 at the Cove’s Edge Nursing Facility in Damariscotta. Born in Chelsea on July 30, 1935, she was the daughter of George and Lafona Erving.
Beryl grew up in Chelsea and married her husband, the late Warren Lot Sidelinger, in 1951. The couple moved to Newcastle and made their home on the West Hamlet Road. For several years she worked as a chambermaid at the Newcastle Inn, but she spent the majority of her life raising and caring for her children.
She loved to sew and knit and was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed both word and number puzzles, fishing, and really loved taking rides in the car.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Warren Lot Sidelinger; children, Sandra Beryl, Lucille Ann, Debra, Marie, and John; brother, Charles Ray Erving; and sisters, Lozona Ann Woodworth, Faith Opal Grey, and Gloria Pearl Sidelinger.
She is survived by her children, David Sidelinger of Newcastle, Warren Sidelinger Jr. of Jefferson, and Tony Ray and Barbara Wentworth, both of Alabama; brothers, Lawrence Erving, and Charlie Erving; as well as many grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Pine Knoll Cemetery in Newcastle.
