Betty J. Gray, 81, of Bath and formerly of Wiscasset, died Feb. 21 after a short illness at a Brunswick hospital.
She was born in York, March 20, 1926, a daughter of Albert and Doris (Parsons) Eaton.
She graduated from York High School in 1943 and from Farmington Teacher’s College in 1947. She taught in Auburn for six years and then became a member of the first faculty of the newly built Bath Junior High School.
Mrs. Gray was a member of the United Church of Christ in Bath. She taught Sunday school and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and making articles for the church fair.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earl Gray on March 15, 1993 and sister, Barbara Littlefield.
She is survived by daughter, Lynne (Gray) Pepek of Jackson, N.J.; stepsons, Glendon Gray of Quebec, Cal., and Vaughn Gray of Wiscasset; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visiting hours Feb. 23 at Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal St., Wiscasset. Funeral Feb. 24 at the funeral home where Rev. Bill Bliss officiated. Burial will be at Mt. Rest Cemetery in Brooksville in the spring.
