Bonnie Jean Simmons, 58, of Waldoboro, died Jan. 4 at her home.
She was born Feb. 28, 1952 in Rockland, a daughter of Thomas William and Jean Deloris (Jackson) Simmons Sr.
Bonnie was a graduate of Medomak Valley High School, a member of the class of 1970, and the Broward County Nursing School in Florida in 1972. She worked for Chase Point, Miles Memorial Hospital, and Pen-Bay Medical Center. She was in fellowship with members of local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Bonnie enjoyed gardening, camping especially at KoKadjo and Medowisla, traveling, scrapbooking, knitting, the beach and being near the water. She loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; father; and nephew, Thomas W. Simmons III.
In addition to her mother of Waldoboro, Bonnie is survived by life partner, Wendell Simmons Sr. of Waldoboro and his two sons, Wendell Jr. and wife Candy of Damariscotta and Donald and wife Katherine of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter, Laura Roberts and companion Nathan Forsman of Waldoboro; grandson, Jonathan Allard of Waldoboro; daughter she raised as her own, Holly Smeltzer and husband Paul of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Aaron and Cassi Smeltzer; sister, Kathy Khan of Waldoboro; brother, Thomas Simmons Jr. and wife Laurie of Waldoboro; brother, Timothy Simmons and wife Deborah Frenkle of Nobleboro; sister, Tammy Mills and husband Charles Sr. of Brunswick; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration of her life 1 p.m., Sat., Jan. 8 at the Soule-Shuman VFW Post, Mill St., Waldoboro.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smeltzer Family Cremation and Funeral Service, Waldoboro.
