Brian R. Hobby, 36, of Waldoboro, died peacefully of complications from a terminal illness on Jan. 18 at Maine Medical Center, Portland.
He was born Nov. 22, 1971, in Putnam, Conn., a son of the late Wilbur E. Hobby and Ellen J. Smith. Brian attended Chaplin Elementary School, Parrish Hill High School and Brooklyn School.
He worked as a security officer for Wells Fargo in San Diego, Cal. and in Connecticut in landscape maintenance and as a restaurant worker. Brian volunteered with St. Vincent’s Shelter in San Diego, Cal. and as a dog trainer with an animal shelter in San Diego, Cal.
He was previously active in the Cub Scouts. He enjoyed riding, repairing and modifying Harley Davidson Motorcycles; music; video games and electronics.
Brian will be remembered as a kind, courageous, hopeful and strong man. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh at himself. He could come up with a plan for any situation. In his final years, he loved working on the farm, splitting wood, and playing with dogs.
In addition to his mother of Waldoboro, Brian is survived by a brother, Charles F. Hobby and partner Jennifer A. Stone and their son Asa F. Stone of Waldoboro.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family in a service to celebrate Brian’s life 10 a.m., Sat., Feb. 9 at the Broad Bay Congregational Church, Main St., Waldoboro.
