Carl G. Urquhart Sr., 72, of Wiscasset, died July 28 at his residence.
He was born in Jonesport on Aug. 11, 1942, a son of Millard and Nellie (Alley) Urquhart Sr.
He graduated from Jonesport High School and entered the U.S. Navy. On May 25, 1963 he married Gracie F. Beal, and in 1966, they moved to Wiscasset. He was employed at Hyde Windlass and Thomaston Prison. In 1971 he started work at Maine Yankee and eventually became chief of security, retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed lobstering, hunting, bowling, watching high school sports, and especially, spending time with his family.
He attended the Bible Baptist Church in Wiscasset and was a member of Maine Wheels Motorhome Club and Family Motorcoach Association.
He was predeceased by brothers, Allen Urquhart, Millard Urquhart Jr., and Harvard Urquhart; and sister, Mary Caler.
He is survived by wife, Gracie F. Urquhart of Wiscasset; son, Carl G. Urquhart Jr. and wife Lori of Alna; daughter, Carla Pierce and husband Bruce of Alabama; brothers, Orrin Urquhart and wife Colleen of Marshfield, and Adelmar Urquhart of Machias; sisters, Madie Seavey of Jonesport, and Gracie Urquhart of Cherryfield; grandchildren, Ryan Urquhart, Alyssa Urquhart, Kristin Pierce, and Sarah Pierce; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Sat., Aug. 1 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Sun., Aug. 2 at Greenwood Cemetery in Jonesport with Pastor Rob Green officiating with military honors.
