Cecil H. Brann, 92, of Somerville, died at his home Jan. 24 as the result of a fire.
The fourth of seven children, he was born on Jan. 20, 1921 in Somerville, son of Herbert and Leola French Brann. He attended the Somerville one-room school which now sits on the Windsor Fairgrounds.
As a young man, he worked on the state road crew, building roads in northern Maine.
A veteran of WWII, he enlisted in October of 1942 and served his country faithfully and with honor throughout the war.

A wizard with heavy equipment, Cecil worked for many years for Williams Construction.
Cecil always had a large garden at the house in Somerville and was happy to share the bounty with friends, neighbors and family.
In 2009, he donated 250 acres of land to the Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine. The Cecil and Virginia Brann Memorial Forest is to be maintained as a working forest, as a registered Maine tree farm, and to be open to the public for their enjoyment.
He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia; mother, Leola Emery; father, Herbert; brother, Omer; sister-in-law, Glee; and sisters, Marion Brann, Stella Hollis, and Inez Brann.
He is survived by his brother, Leon Emery and wife Fay of Windsor; sister, Wanda of Pacifica, Cal.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
At Cecil’s request a service will be held at a later date.
