Charles E. Campbell, 74, of Trevett, died Nov. 17 at Glenridge Nursing Facility in Augusta. He was born on June 26, 1943 to Florence I. Brown. Charles grew up in Trevett, and spent some of his youth in Phillips.
He married Patricia Jane Nichols on May 11, 1966. They lived in Waldoboro for a brief time before moving to Boothbay. He worked as a welder for Bath Iron Works for over 15 years until he retired. Charles enjoyed go dancing with his wife every Friday and Saturday night usually at Crystal Falls in Chelsea. He also enjoyed hunting, road trips, and camping. He loved making and burning fires. He was well known for his witty, dry sense of humor. He was a true jokester.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Jane Campbell; daughter, Debra Campbell; brother, Clarence Burnham; and grandson, Cameron Campbell.
He is survived by daughters, Lisa Walby and companion Ben Rankins of Boothbay Harbor, and Tanya Landry and husband Eric Landry of Boothbay Harbor; sons, Merton Campbell and companion Teresa Williams of Alna, and Robert “Robbie” Campbell and wife Kristen Campbell of Trevett; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, and cousins.
A service to celebrate Charlie’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., Nov. 25 at Hall’s of Boothbay, 975 Wiscasset Rd., Boothbay with Rev. Robert Dorr officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Boothbay Harbor. A reception to continue celebrating Charlie’s life will be held at the Boothbay Fire Station immediately following the burial.
