Charles Pierce Palmer, 95, of Bonita Springs, Fla., died July 23 in Nobleboro. He was born June 23, 1914 in Boston, Mass.
A WWII veteran, he was a part of the 10th armored division, and was in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he attended Bentley’s in Boston, Mass. He worked 35 years as an accountant for Richard White Sons Construction, in Auburndale, Mass., during which time he resided in the neighboring town of Belmont.
He loved Maine and spent many years vacationing in Ogunquit and China Lake. After retirement, he and his wife lived eight years with their daughter and her family in Union.
His road trip to Maine this summer included a stop in Gatlinburg, Tenn., where he was the proud patriarch at his grandson Sean’s, wedding, to Teresa Kemerer, of Columbus, Ohio.
A quiet man, he loved reading, and going out to eat.
He is predeceased by his wife Ida E. Barkividge of Revere, Mass.
He is survived by his daughter, Christine Graves and son-in-law, Michael, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; granddaughter, Dannielle Hopkins of Waterville; grandsons, Sean Graves of Bend, Ore., and Dean Graves of Bonita Springs, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Desiree, Gabrielle, Caden, and Mallory Hopkins of Waterville.
His ashes will be laid to rest next to his wife at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.
