Charlotte Katherine Lauritano Lupsha, 75, passed away on July 15 at the Augusta Rehabilitation Center after three weeks at Maine General Hospital, following a second attack of cancer.
Charlotte was born Oct. 8, 1931 in Portland, the daughter of Alphonse M. Lauritano and his wife Mary A. Fairweather Lauritano.
She graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, Portland in 1949; was a Novitiate of the Sisters of Mercy, Portland; and attended St. Joseph’s College in Standish. She graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, with an education in Medical Records.
She was employed as a medical records supervisor at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Mass., later at Pen Bay in Rockland, and for over 20 years with the same responsibilities at Togus VA Hospital.
Charlotte was a very active, loyal and faithful parishioner of St. Denis Catholic Church in Whitefield and served in several different offices, including chairman of the Pastoral Council. She was always willing to lend a hand whenever it was needed to benefit the church and parish community.
While living in Windsor for 22 years, she enjoyed many years raising vegetables in her home garden and became a certified Master Gardener.
She was pre-deceased by her brother, Ted.
Her beloved husband, Joseph M. Lupsha, survives her in the utmost sorrow. They were married on April 12, 1980 and jointly agreed they had a most wonderful 27 years together, filled with great love and companionship.
She is also survived by two sisters, Marcia Hughes and Sister of Mercy Anne Lauritano, both of Portland; niece, Mary Ann Arvai and Mary Ann’s brothers, Stephen, Timothy, James and Andrew Hughes; Tony Lauritano and his sisters, Therese and Denise; and first cousins, Karen Harris, Susan Borduas, and Ellen.
Visitation 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Thurs., July 19 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m., Fri., July 20 at St. Denis Church in Whitefield, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Whitefield.
