Chester E. Pooley, Sr., 80, of Waldoboro, passed away April 28 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta after a long illness.
He was born July 21, 1927 in Camden, the son of the late Chester and Frances Driscoll Pooley.
He attended school in the Lincolnville and Camden school systems. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Chet was employed for 46 years at Bath Iron Works in the machine department.
He was very active as a past Master in the Masons and served two terms as President of the Maine State School Board Association. He was a member of the Waldoboro Baptist Church. Chet enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and friends.
He was predeceased by his sons, Lawrence and David Pooley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Yvonne M. Thibodeau Pooley; sons, Chester Pooley, Jr. and wife Rita of New Sharon, and Philip Pooley and wife Sharon of Lisbon Falls; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours 6-7:30 p.m., Tues., April 29, at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Celebration of Chester s life 11 a.m., Wed., April 30 at the First Baptist Church of Waldoboro in Waldoboro. A time of fellowship will follow the funeral with a committal service at 1:30 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Camden.
