Clinton Small Harris, 92, passed away on March 13. He was born Aug. 28, 1917 at the family home in Auburn, the third child of Edward Ezekiel and Carrie (Small) Harris. He graduated from Edward Little High School in 1935.
In 1938, he married Bertha Caldwell of Auburn. They lived briefly in Damariscotta then moved to Wiscasset to work on the construction of Mason Station. CMP then employed him to help bring the plant on line. He worked there until he was promoted in 1957 to be on the startup crew of Wyman Station in Yarmouth. Mrs. Bertha Harris passed away in 1977. Mr. Harris retired from CMP after 37 years in 1979.
In 1981, Mr. Harris married Barbara (Allen) Lamson. They lived together in Portland until her children completed high school. They then had a home built near his old homestead in Auburn. They later moved to Mechanic Falls and recently to Poland to be near his beloved family. Mr. Harris was a member of First Baptist Church in Portland for over 50 years.
Mr. Harris was predeceased by his first wife, Bertha; brothers, Raymond and Willard; sisters, Louise and Thelma; and grandson, Timothy Hatt.
Mr. Harris is survived by his devoted wife Barbara of Poland; son, Edward and wife Nadia of Alexandria, Va.; twin daughters, BrendaSue and husband George McCabe of Warrenton, Ore., and BetteLou and husband Donald Colban of Auburn; stepdaughter, Jane and husband Joseph Redman of Portland; stepsons, Philip Lamson and wife Julie of Standish, Bill Lamson and wife Stacy of Westbrook, and Bob Lamson and wife Dawna of Portland; grandsons, Michael and wife Sue of London, England, Thomas Colban and wife Joy of Epping, N.H., and Lanny Hatt and Kacey of Astoria, Ore.; granddaughters, Karen and partner Zita Fields of San Diego, Cal., Leila and husband Andy Fielding of Vancouver, B.C., Lorie and husband Steve Dolinsky of Nyack, N.Y., and TracieLynn and husband Rick Raterman of Gearhart, Ore.; step-grandchildren, Julian Redman of Portland, and Andrew and Stephanie Lamson of Westbrook; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service 11 a.m., Sat., March 27 at the First Baptist Church in Portland.
