Constance C. Hanson, 73, of Waldoboro, passed away on the morning Jan. 19 at Cove’s Edge, Damariscotta.
The daughter of Warren and Marion (Hitchcock) Colwell, she was born May 22, 1934, in Waldoboro. She graduated from Rockland High School in 1952 and then went on to earn her nursing degree.
Working at various facilities as a nurse, including many happy years as a private school nurse at Fryeburg Academy, she was known for her kindness and generosity. She also played an important role with illness within her own family and will be remembered for her courage during her battle with cancer. A very important part of her life included her family, especially her grandsons, Sam and Jake. She was not only known as Gram to those boys, but to many of their friends. She had a great fondness for her bird, “Henry” and dog, “Simba.”
Constance was predeceased by her husbands, Robert Leonard and Richard Hanson and her grandson, Jake.
She leaves her daughter, Paulette Strout of Thomaston; grandson, Sam; loving sister, Sandra True and husband Harry of Fryeburg; nieces, Denise Stacy of Denmark, Sherry Ingalls of Madison, N.H., and Kathy Ela of Eaton, N.H.; nephews, Mark True of Scituate, Mass. and Paul True of Casco; along with several aunts and cousins.
Graveside service will be held in the spring.
