Dale E. Grant, 46, passed away after a brief illness on the evening of May 15 at the MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Sept. 19, 1968 in Boothbay Harbor, he was the son of Dale G. and Patricia E. Grant of Edgecomb.
Dale was a very intelligent person and had many talents. He was a gifted artist, history buff, was once an urchin diver, carpenter and had a very good career as a Boilermaker in Local 29 out of Quincy, Mass.
He had a gift of making people laugh, and had a way of telling a story. He will always be remembered for his great laugh, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his father, Dale Grant; as well as his faithful and loving companion, Jose Wales, his outlaw dog.
He is survived by his mother, Patty Grant of Edgecomb; brothers, Douglas Jesse Schmal and wife Shelley of Wiscasset, and Matthew James Schmal of Edgecomb; sister, Cindy Cheney of Pemaquid; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service will be held at 4 p.m., Fri., May 22, at the Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St., Damariscotta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.
