Dana Lawrence Snow, 68, of West Bath, died March 13 at a Brunswick hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in North Vassalboro on Oct. 27, 1941, a son of Arthur “Ike” and Gladys (Hall) Snow.
Dana graduated from Morse High School in the Class of 1962 and later served in the National Guard. He was employed at Sears & Roebucks in Bath, Bath Iron Works and was the manager of the Bath Lodge of Elks for 20 years. Dana and his wife Teresa owned and operated Snows Market in Brunswick for 10 years. He was currently employed by Bath City Hall. He loved his mail route to all city departments. Dana loved the City of Bath and especially City Hall. In 1996 Dana received a certificate of appreciation from the City of Bath for his efforts in the beautification of downtown and made the City Hall the show place it is today.
He was a member of the Bath Lodge of Elks.
Dana was a master carver and woodworker, specializing in whales. He was an avid gardener and loved spending time with his beloved dog, Bud. Dana enjoyed duck hunting with his buddies, his log cabin camp in Bingham and road trips to Danforth with his brothers and close friends, which he had many. He loved to be on the water in his boat The Drambouy and enjoyed going to Foxwoods for a little gambling from time to time. Dana enjoyed playing golf with his brothers in the Morse Alumni Blue and White tournament. He loved to write beautiful poetry.
Dana was predeceased by his wife, Teresa Platteter on April 12, 2001.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Sandra Adams of Wiscasset; brothers, David Snow and wife Marcia of West Bath, Dick Snow and wife Carolyn of West Bath, and Danny Snow and wife Kandi of Cundy’s Harbor; sisters, Marion Snow Torrey and husband Frank of Bath, Judy Snow Ward and husband Rick of Bowdoinham, and Janet Snow Gilliam and husband Glenn of Phippsburg; stepson, David Platteter and wife Petra of Phippsburg; grandchildren, Emilie Platteter and Hayden Platteter; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Wed., March 17 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath with an Elks service. Funeral service 2 p.m., Thurs., March 18 at the Bath United Church of Christ, 150 Congress Ave., Bath. Gathering of family and friends will follow at the Bath Lodge of Elks. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath at a later date.
