Daniel John Moran, 45, of Waldoboro, died Sept. 12 at his home. He was born Oct. 29, 1964 in Augusta, to Richard and Anna Bate Moran. Daniel grew up in Waldoboro and graduated from Medomak Valley High School in the class of 1983. During high school he received his EMT license. He began working with Waldoboro E.M.S. He continued his education and became a paramedic 15 years ago. He was an active member of Waldoboro E.M.S. serving as acting director in 2007. He also served the town of Waldoboro as a police officer, shellfish warden and briefly on the fire department. He worked at the Maine State Prison on the Blood Hound Unit and Control Room for 15 years. He previously worked as a Lincoln County Sheriff and for CLC Ambulance.
He operated his Turf Medic Landscaping business for eight years. He loved spending time at his camp in Shirley hunting and fishing. He enjoyed tying his own flies. He attended functions at the North Waldoboro Nazarene Church. He loved his family, his daughters, and his grand kids were very dear to him.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Benner Moran of Waldoboro; parents, Anna and Richard Moran of Waldoboro; daughters, Amanda Lewis of Dresden, Laura Thompson of Waldoboro, Kristy Moran of Warren and Stephanie Moran of Waldoboro; grandchildren, David John “DJ” Thompson III of Waldoboro, Kammie Thompson of Waldoboro, Cameron Lewis of Dresden and Lillian Simmons of Warren; brother, Richard D. Moran of Waldoboro; sister, Cynthia Ann Merrill of Ellsworth; and a large extended family.
Time of visitation for family and friends 6-8 p.m., Thurs., Sept. 16 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro. Funeral 10 a.m., Fri., Sept. 17 at Waldoboro Congregational Church, Main St., Waldoboro, with Pastor Mark Holden officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Belgrade.
