David D. Hoyt, 80, of Chelsea, died Feb. 26 at his home following a long illness. He was born in Johnson City, N.Y. on July 19, 1931, a son of the late Delphin and Marion (Stevens) Hoyt.
Mr. Hoyt had been employed by Con-Tel/GTE/Verizon for 20 years and was a member of the American Legion, Post 42 in Damariscotta.
He is predeceased by a sister, Norma Alise.
Mr. Hoyt is survived by his wife of 53 years, Wilma J. (Churchill) Hoyt of Chelsea; son, Alan Hoyt and wife Theresa of South Portland; daughters, Tami J. Patterson and husband Patrick of Plymouth, and Susan L. Beaulieu and husband Eugene Beaulieu Jr. of Readfield; sisters, Doris M. Cole of Binghamton, N.Y., and Cathy Hoyt of Union Grove, Wis.; grandchildren, Benjamin Roy, Christopher and Amy Patterson, and Rebecca and Matthew Beaulieu; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Logan Roy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours. A private graveside service will take place at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta.
