Doris A. Gleason, 74, of Dresden, passed away on Sept. 20 of Alzheimer’s Disease at MaineGeneral Medical Center, Augusta.
Doris was born Dec. 15, 1935 in Gardiner, the daughter of Fred and Olive Randall. She grew up in Whitefield and was the next to the youngest of nine children. She attended Wiscasset High School.
In the 60s she worked at Health Tex in Farmingdale and raised six children all on her own. Starting in 1966 she worked at Green Point Farms in Dresden until 1999 when she and her husband retired and the farmland went to the Maine Fish and Wildlife Department to be used as a game management area.
Survivors include her husband Robert Gleason of Dresden, they had been together for 45 years; sons, Leroy Murphy of Augusta, John Murphy of Florida, Peter Murphy of Vassalboro and Timothy Murphy of Benton; daughters, Debra Hinckley of Vassalboro and Patricia Donnell of Pittston; sisters, Anita Grant of Westford, Mass. and Shirley Peterson of East Swanzy, N.H.; and eight grandchildren.
At Doris’s request there will be no visiting hours. Graveside service 10 a.m., Thurs., Sept. 23 at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Dresden.
Arrangements are under the care of Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond.
