Douglas Stewart McGee, 62, of Waldoboro, devoted husband, loving father, died on May 23 of complications from cancer.
Doug was born in Norwood and raised in Westwood, Mass., married and raised his family in Mansfield, Mass. and later moved to Maine and planned to retire there.
Doug was an enthusiastic member of Ducks Unlimited and the NRA and enjoyed hunting with his friends. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, sailing, kayaking or canoeing. He was a skilled cabinet maker most recently working, before his illness, with Bruce Swift Cabinetry in Bristol. He enjoyed spending much of his time with his family and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Hamilton Bruce McGee and mother, Elinor McGee, both of Westwood, Mass.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laura McGee; daughters, Shannon McGee-Grauer and husband Glen of Freeport and Tracey McGee-Patalano and husband Nick of Riverview, Fla.; grandchildren, Olivia and Ty; sister, Janice McGee-Kristenson and brother-in-law, Carl of Massachusetts; and brother, Larry McGee and sister-in-law, Pat of Alaska.
Memorial service 2 p.m., Sat., June 25 at the South Parish Congregational Church UCC in Augusta with a collation immediately following the service.
