Elaine Joan Fairweather, 62, passed away peacefully on March 12 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
Elaine grew up in Roslindale, Mass. and graduated from Roslindale High School in 1972.
She attended the Art Institute of Boston for three years. Elaine worked in several retail stores including Barnes & Noble and Filene’s Basement. She also worked at Stop ’N Shop in Edgartown, Mass., and the Artful Hand Gallery in Boston. When Elaine moved to Boothbay Harbor, she worked at Sherman’s Bookstore.
She was an avid reader and belonged to many library book clubs. Elaine exhibited her art (contemporary artist) working with oil crayon. She loved music, nature, the ocean, and animals, especially horses. She had a beloved Irish Wolfhound, Usa.
Elaine enjoyed people, engaging in conversation, and was a compassionate caregiver. She loved spoiling her nieces and nephews.
Elaine was predeceased by parents, Norman and Nancy Fairweather.
She is survived by sister, Karen and husband Richard Rego of Boothbay Harbor; brothers, David and wife Carol of Bellingham, Mass., and James Fairweather of Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a service to celebrate Elaine’s life on at 11 a.m., Sat., April 1 at the Boothbay Harbor United Methodist Church, Townsend Ave., Boothbay Harbor. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Dorchester, Mass. at a later date.
