Elizabeth “Betty” Soule, 76, passed away March 5 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.
She was born June 2, 1930, in Houlton, the daughter of the late Langell and Jenny Jones Burke. She grew up in South Windham and attended local schools.
She moved to Waldoboro in 1951 with her first husband, Frederick, who passed away in 1972.
In 1985, she married Austin Soule.
Betty enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a member of the Acorn Grange in Cushing, Hope Grange and later, Pioneer Grange in Union throughout her life.
She enjoyed the game of cribbage and played in several cribbage tournaments. She also enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards. She bowled at DePatsy’s Lanes and loved to go camping.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Frederick Ryan, Sr.; and son, William W. Ryan.
Survivors include her husband, Austin L. Soule of Waldoboro; daughters, Loretta Russell of Portland, Janet Lee and husband Fred of Waldoboro, Dorothy Loring of Winslow, and Carol Collamore and husband Tim of Bremen; sons, Frederick Ryan, Jr. and companion Cathy Penn of Waldoboro, Leon Ryan of Waldoboro, and Ricky Ryan of Brunswick; stepchildren, Mary Jane Soule of Waldoboro, Judy Soule of Rockland, David Soule of Warren, Linda Mountainland of Rockland, and Laura Soule of Rockland; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours 6-8 p.m., Wed., March 7 at Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro.
Celebration of Betty’s life 11 a.m., Thurs., March 8 at Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Rawley officiating.
Burial will be in the spring at Sawyer Cemetery in Warren.
