After courageously battling cancer for six years, Ethelyn Barbour-Shultz peacefully joined her husband, Ronnie Barbour, on Dec. 27. She was born in Nobleboro on Dec. 31, 1939.
Ethelyn Ralph married Ronnie Barbour on Aug. 31, 1957. Until his death in 2002, they enjoyed singing and dancing, attending church, and attending their grandchildren’s extra-curricular events.
Devoted to her family, Ethelyn worked in the home for 22 years. In 1979, she began working at Moody’s Cabins and Diner. Her pastry baking landed her on the front page of The New York Times Style Section in 1993, and on the Food Channel in 2004. Her pride in her culinary accolades paled in comparison to her pride in her family.
She recently remarried, to George B. Shultz Jr. in April 2006, and retired from “the Diner” in July 2006.
She was also predeceased by her father, Ward Ralph.
She is survived by her mother, Muriel Teirila of Warren; sisters, Betty Cunningham of Waldoboro, Beverly Boivin of Warren, and Marion MacMahan of Owls Head; children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Scott Barbour and wife Ashley, Daniel, Nicole and Kaydence Barbour of Jefferson and Okinawa, Japan, Amanda Barbour and Chloe Achorn of Waldoboro, Kim Brown and husband Buddy, Ben, Nicole and Jayden Brown and Lydia Brown of Nobleboro, Zachery and Melissa Brown of Somerville, Glenn Barbour and wife Dawna, Glenn Barbour and fiancée Jessica Simmons and Brittany Barbour of Waldoboro, Melissa Barbour and Beston Barbour Simpson of Nobleboro, and Ronnie, Laurie and Asher Barbour of Waldoboro; and husband, George B.
