Evelyn M. Deardorff, of New Harbor, passed peacefully July 1 at her residence with her family by her side after a brief illness. She was listening to the song “Till We Meet Again” by Carrie Underwood at the request of her daughter Nikki.
Evelyn was born in Newcastle April 1, 1940, the daughter of Arthur and Edith (Fairbrother) Smith. She attended Lincoln Academy and traveled extensively throughout her life. She enjoyed visiting friends in California and her children in Texas and Oklahoma. She lived a great life doing what she wanted, when she wanted.
Evelyn is predeceased by her parents; brothers, Kenneth, Frank and Richard Smith; and son-in-law, Jeff.
Evelyn is survived by brother, Seward Smith of Bristol; sister, Cindy Sykes of Damariscotta; sister-in-law, Frances Smith of Searsmont; children, David Crawford and wife Anisa of Tom Bean, Tex., Cindy Clark and husband Robert of Texas, and Nikki Patterson Land of Oklahoma; and grandchildren.
Evelyn will be missed and remembered fondly by three generations of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Sat., July 8 at the family plot in Highland Cemetery in Damariscotta Mills.
