Faith Raddin Jones, 88, of Damariscotta Mills, passed away on Aug. 18 at Cove’s Edge in Damariscotta. Born in Edgecomb on Aug. 23, 1926, she was the daughter of Cornelius Walter Raddin and Evelyn Brown Raddin. She graduated from Lincoln Academy as valedictorian of the class of 1944. Following graduation, she went to work at Bath Iron Works.
She married the love of her life, Arthur E. Jones, on May 7, 1947 and moved to Damariscotta Mills, where she and Arthur raised two daughters, Susan and Cynthia. She was a stay-at-home mom until the girls were college age, then she went to work at various places, including Perley’s Greenhouse, Central Maine Power Company, and various banks, retiring from First Federal Savings Bank.
She was an active 50-year member of the First Baptist Church of Nobleboro, serving as church clerk for many years. She was also a ballot clerk for the Town of Nobleboro for many years. When her children were in grammar school, she was instrumental, with other mothers, in forming a health council to assure that all children in the town received polio vaccines and other vaccines. She was a 74-year member of the Nobleboro Grange, was active in the Nobleboro Historical Society, and was secretary of the Highland Cemetery Association. For 50 years, she wrote a column in The Lincoln County News on the lives and activities of Damariscotta Mills. She and Arthur enjoyed going to flea markets and shops, hunting for items for their myriad of collections, particularly horse figurines.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Brenda Huff; and son-in-law, Michael McCuller.
Faith is survived by husband of 68 years, Arthur E. Jones; daughters, Susan McCuller of South Portland, and Cynthia Feit and husband Steven of Virginia Beach, Va.; granddaughters, Kristen C. Buteau and husband Craig Masse of Cambridge, Mass., and Melissa Coy and husband Michael of Westbrook; great-grandson, Liam Coy of Westbrook; and niece, Charlene Rogers and husband Robert of Edgecomb.
