Frances A. Schroyer, a longtime resident of Washington and widow of Charles Schroyer, died Feb. 26 at MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta after a brief illness.
Frances was born Aug. 28, 1918 in Washington, the daughter of Merle B. and Georgia Hoak Marr, and attended Washington Schools.
In the early 1940s she moved to Connecticut, where she worked as a nurse. In 1946 she returned to Washington, and in the mid 1950s began working at the Augusta Mental Health Institute, AMHI, from which she retired after many years of employment as a nurse.
She was a member of the Washington Baptist Church, member of the Fon Du Lac Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star before it disbanded, and currently a member of Lakeview Chapter #179, OES in Jefferson.
Frances is predeceased by her husband, Charles Schroyer, in 1985, and son, Larry Cooley in 2010.
Survivors include niece, Nancy Linscott and husband Berkley; nephew, Charles Vanner and wife Elizabeth; grandniece, Olivia; and grandnephew, Merle, all of Washington.
An Order of Eastern Star service 11 a.m., Sat., March 5 at the Hall Funeral Home, 949 Main St., Waldoboro, followed by a celebration of her life. Private interment will be held at the Marr Cemetery, Washington.
