Frank M. “Beanie” Holmes Jr., 68, of Windsor, passed away peacefully after a long illness on June 10 at the Gray Birch Rehabilitation Center in Augusta. He was born Sept. 17, 1946 in Gardiner, the son of the late Frank M. Holmes and Alice Hoffses Holmes. As a boy, he grew up in Jefferson, attended local schools, and graduated from Lincoln Academy with the class of 1964.
He entered the work force and initially worked for The Lincoln County News as a press operator. He later worked for McCarthy Printing as an offset press operator. He also owned and operated Frank’s Lawnmower Service, providing lawn care service and the sale of firewood. He was a very hard worker and always paid close attention to detail in all his various jobs. He continued working until illness forced him to retire.
He was predeceased by father, Frank M. Holmes; mother, Alice Holmes; sister, Jean Huber; and brother, George Ogilvie.
He is survived by daughter, Lori Hartin and husband Sterling of Benton; sons, Gregory Holmes and wife Christa of Tenants Harbor, and Corey Holmes of Jefferson; brother, Allen Holmes and wife Florence of Albion; very special friend, Hazel Kleinschmidt of Windsor; grandchildren, Sterling Hartin, Nicholas Hartin, and Jocelyn Hartin, all of Benton, Katie Holmes of Tenants Harbor, and Kyle Holmes of Whitefield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins
A graveside service to celebrate Frank’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., July 3 at Fairview Cemetery in Jefferson. Should friends desire, contributions in Frank’s memory may be made to Allen Holmes, 54 Crosby Rd., Albion, ME 04910 to defray funeral expenses.
