Fred E. Peaslee, 88, of Wiscasset, died the morning of Feb. 17 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born Feb. 9, 1926 in Somerville, a son of the late Guy and Leola (Benner) Peaslee.
Mr. Peaslee attended school in Jefferson and served honorably with the U.S. Navy during WWII. On July 18, 1947 he married Marylou Soule. For over 62 years he sold Christmas trees and started the family tree farm in Edgecomb in 1980. For 35 years he worked as a marine worm shipper. Mr. Peaslee was a member of Lincoln Lodge of Masons No. 3 in Wiscasset and Past-Commander of the Bradford-Sortwell-Wright American Legion Post #54 in Wiscasset. He was an avid racing fan, selling tires to racers for years. He loved camping, fishing and hunting, but most especially spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Timmy Peaslee in 1948.
In addition to his wife of more than 66 years, Marylou Peaslee of Wiscasset, Mr. Peaslee is survived by daughter, Cindy Hill and husband Dennis of Edgecomb; son, Steven Peaslee Sr. and wife Gwen of Blue Hill; grandchildren, Steven Peaslee Jr. of Waldoboro, Corey Hill and wife Melissa of Abbot, Stacey Gato and husband Tim of Virginia, and Samantha Footer and husband Joseph of Dresden; great-grandchildren, Danika, Shanoah, Martina, Emily, and Sarah; four sisters; and eight brothers.
Relatives and friends are invited to join with the family for a graveside service to celebrate Mr. Peaslee’s life in the spring.
