Frederick O. Ryan Jr., 62, of Waldoboro, died peacefully at his home from lung cancer on May 7. Fred was born on May 11, 1953, to Frederick and Elizabeth (Betty) Ryan of Waldoboro.
Frederick Ryan grew up in Waldoboro and right after high school went into the Navy and followed his service by entering the National Guard. After leaving the service, he spent 22 years at Bath Iron Works as a spray painter. After his career at Bath, he spent many years working at Bowden’s Egg Farm in Waldoboro.
Fred loved fishing, cribbage, mowing his lawn, NASCAR races, horseshoes, a fresh hair cut and the Andy Griffith Show. Fred had the kindest heart and couldn’t say no to helping anybody. He cherished his friends and family and loved to focus on the positive in life.
Fred is survived by his companion of 17 years who took care of him until his final day, Cathy Penn; mother of his children and wife of 18 years, Elizabeth Winchenbach; daughter and son-in-law, Christina and William Wotton; son, Michael Bradstreet; brothers and sisters, Janet Lee, Lenny Ryan, Ricky Ryan, Dorothy Ryan, and Carol Ryan and husband Tim Collamore; grandchildren, Emily Wotton, Ryan Wotton, Olivia Bradstreet, Andrea Bradstreet, Isaac Bickford and Qiana Lalli; nephews, Robert Lee, Lance Lee and wife Jill, and Buddy Ryan; nieces, Amie Lee and Amanda Carter; many special friends that were also his family, Lance Lee, Will Wotton, Robert Lee, Junior (Rabbi) Pendexter, Joe Kenefick, Bob Gould, Shawn Smith, Vivian Shannon, Doyle Simmons, and Pat Bowden; and Cathy’s children, Chrystal Bickford, Rebecca Penn and Matthew Lalli.
A memorial service will be held on Fred’s birthday, Wed., May 11 at 2 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall in Warren. Please come help us celebrate the life of a beloved man.
