George Roland Chapman, 70, passed away on April 12 at his home in Waldoboro with his family by his side. George was born on April 26, 1947 in Gardiner to Robert Chapman and Josephine (Brackett) Chapman. He grew up in Gardiner and attended local schools. He joined the U.S. Army in 1965. He was an Expert (M-14) Rifleman and was given a letter of appreciation. After he was discharged from the Army in 1972, George worked for Canon Sline painter’s union and was a clam digger.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and his special dog Chloe, and mowing lawns in the neighborhood.
He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, Jean Chapman; second wife, Dana Chapman; and brother, Robert Chapman, Jr.
George is survived by son, George Chapman, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Waldoboro; daughter, Tina Chapman of Waldoboro; step-son, Raymond Walls of Friendship; granddaughters, Breckyn Turner and husband Brad of Waldoboro, and Miranda-Lee Stockbridge and husband Shane of Warren; grandsons, Shane Woods of Waldoboro, and David Walls and wife Ashley of Rockland; great-granddaughters, Emma-Jean, Malerie-Ann, Keyara, Aleazia, and Reirni; great-grandsons, Ethan and Little George Remillard; grandchildren, Joe, Seth, Josiha, Veronica Remmillard; and brother, Dean Chapman of Lewiston.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., May 12 at the Word of Life Church, 41 Old Route One, Waldoboro, Pastor Tom Rawley officiating.
