Gordon E. Halm, Sr., 88, of Niskayuna, N.Y. and South Bristol, passed away March 16 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, N.Y.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., and raised in Maplewood, N.J., he was the son of the late Herman and Olive Long Halm.
Gordon was a graduate of Columbia High School, Maplewood, N.J., and received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Antioch College in Ohio.
He first worked for Dupont, and then was employed at General Electric, receiving his training in Oak Ridge, Tenn. In 1952, he moved to Schenectady, N.Y. and worked at KAPL, where he was involved with design and construction for 39 years.
After he retired, he divided his time living in Niskayuna, N.Y. and his home in South Bristol. Gordon and his family had lived in Alplaus, N.Y., where he was a volunteer fireman, and they also lived in Ballston Spa, N.Y.
He was an avid golfer, bowler and sailor. He was a member of the Edison Club for 20 years, a member of the Elfun Society, Wawenoch Country Club, and a former member of the Ballston Spa Rotary.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 64 years, Winifred Randall Halm; sons, Randall D. Halm of Richmond, Va., Gordon E. Halm, Jr. of Niskayuna, N.Y., and David L. Halm of Waterville; three grandchildren and twin great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Halm of South Bristol; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be at a later date in Danville, Ill.
