Guilford (Leo) Hannon, 98, of Chamberlain, died Feb. 6 at the Marshwood Center in Lewiston. He was born in Augusta on Aug. 21, 1919, a son of Walter and Alice (Pottle) Hannon.
He was a US Army veteran of WWII with service in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre.
Guilford had been employed for 34 years at Central Maine Power before his retirement in 1980.
He was a member of the Masonic Bethlehem Lodge in Augusta, Kora Shrine in Lewiston.
He was predeceased by wife, Florence Buckmore Hannon who died Dec. 24, 2001.
He is survived by daughter, Rose Willett and husband Richard Jr. of Clinton; son, Dale Hannon and wife Brenda of Sabattus; grandchildren, Jade and Shannon; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 p.m., Thurs. Feb. 8 at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave., Gardiner. Committal services with military honors will be held at 1 p.m., Fri., Feb. 9 in the chapel at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Rd in Augusta.
