Harvey L. “Bob” Perkins Jr., 62, of Coopers Mills, formerly of Somerville, died unexpectedly Oct. 8. He was born in Waterville on Jan. 25, 1946, a son of the late Harvey L. and Beverly (Luce) Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a self employed truck driver for many years and had also worked as a truck driver for N.C Hunt and F.E. Peaslee Trucking.
Harvey, known as “Dad and Dear” to his immediate friends and family, which were many. He enjoyed being a self employed trucker. He also liked hunting, fishing, TV, old western movies, eating out at his favorite truck stops and telling stories, which were like reading a good book. You couldn’t just walk away from him he was mesmerizing and funny. He also enjoyed working for F.E. Peaslee Forest Products and also enjoyed the N.C. Hunt morning talk with the crew. All his family and friends knew he was one of a kind. He enjoyed looking at big trucks, going to fairs, and going on day trips and vacations. He was a very kind and gentle person, and he had a heart of love and gold. He would also help out anyone at any time.
He was predeceased by a sister, Laura Whiting.
Mr. Perkins is survived by his soul mate, love of his life and fiancée of 25 years, Linda L. Brann of Coopers Mills; son, John W. Brann and his fiancée Rhonda of Augusta; two daughters, Tabetha S. Brann of Lewiston and Tammy L. Allen and husband Rogers of Conley, Ga.; a brother, William Perkins and wife Joanne of Jefferson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, and his favorite cat, “Mittens” who slept at his feet every night.
At his request, there will be no public visiting hours.
Graveside service Wed., Oct. 15 at Highland Cemetery, Jefferson.
